Big Win At Revere – First Place!
The Cyber Sailors had our biggest win yet at the NE FIRST District Greater Boston Event at Revere High School! After many challenging qualifying matches, we graciously accepted an invitation to join the first alliance team (captain team 3467 Windham Windup from Windham, NH and team 125 NUTRONs from Revere MA) and worked together to win the event. It was awesome to work with these teams!!!
Update after week#4
The Greater Boston Even on March 25-27 was our first competition ever. What a blast!
A blast with issues, quite some stress and a lot of fun.
After setting up our pit and getting “Ensign” inspected, our radio was programmed for the competition and we lost all communication with our Robot. After several hours trying we finally succeeded connecting the driver station to the Robot.
That is basically all we did on Friday night.
That issue solve we started our Saturday with a software issue preventing all remote controlling of “Ensign”. Hey! that got fixed on time fir our first qualification game.
This is when we discovered the motor on the climbing subsystem wasn’t powerful enough after installing all the motors and battery. Oh yes! We finished building the whole robot 2 days before there was no time for testing.
It took the team several pit stop to install a new motor and update to code to control that second motor. After that we had a solid climb every single game!
That’s right after getting that climber to function that the full intake assembly started to fall apart and the storage belt starting to get loose. 15 minutes break… to fix everything. All hands on deck literally!
The team fixed it and made is sturdier for the rest of the weekend.
Everything after that looked fine until the shooter started to miss shots. Deflated balls were not our friends.
Not much we could do for that on the fly! This will be an upgrade for the next competition in WPI!
At the end of the weekend we came home with the “Highest Rookie Seed”, the “All Star Rookie Award” and many great memories!
